Censorship in Garden City

My daughter attends Garden City Community School (GCCS); and until recently I was one of their biggest fans. In fact, I put so much "sales effort" into getting a friend to send his kids to GCCS that he actually asked me if I got some kind of commission for getting his kids to attend school there. I do not. And a recent decision by the schools director to censor a song that my daughter had planned to sing in today's talent show has me eating my words.

Yesterday my daughter came home from school and told me that the schools director, Cindy Hoovel, informed her that she would need to substitute the word "Holiday" for the word "Christmas" in the song she was planning on singing (Alvin & The Chipmunks - Christmas don't be late). She refused. And, as such, she chose not to participate in today's talent show.

The excuse offered by Ms. Hoovel for her actions is just that; an excuse. And it further illustrates her lack of understanding of the first amendment.

I once swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and I gave up eight years of my life to do exactly that. To me, censorship in our schools is completely unacceptable; and I take offense to it. I believe that my efforts to bring this matter into the public eye are a part of the oath I took so many years ago.

Patriotic Retirement Plan

Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings -Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered-Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

Catching Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends.

Keep your eyes on the newly elected politicians who are about to slam the gate on America .

"Sheeple"

Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, a little over 60 years ago, witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO) with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and cattle ranch just outside Roswell , New Mexico . This is a well known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and other federal agencies and organizations.

However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April 1948, nine months after that historic day, the following people were born:

Albert A. Gore, Jr.
Hillary Rodham
John F. Kerry
William J. Clinton
Howard Dean
Nancy Pelosi
Dianne Feinstein
Charles E. Schumer
Barbara Boxer

See what happens when aliens breed with sheep?

No wonder they support the bill to help illegal aliens!

Thomas Jefferson

All of these quotes are by Thomas Jefferson. And all of them are relevant today; none more so than the first; but with a Democratic Government poised for takeover, the second is about to become equally important. Too bad our government has all but forgotten this great man and the lessons he tried to teach us.

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe."

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."

Drug Tests

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.

In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random drug test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a drug test. Shouldn't one have to pass a drug test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their butt, doing drugs, while I work.

Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a drug test to get a public assistance check?

New Government Seal

Official Announcement

condom

The United States Government announced today that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a Condom because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance.

A Condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed!

Damn, it just doesn't get more accurate than that!

Lower Gas Prices

One solution to the high price of gas would be to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The demand for gas would be reduced, so the price of gas would also be reduced.

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Border. When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq. Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military .

Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway; without the canteen, rifle or ammo.

There you have it: A solution to deter illegal immigration; bring our troops home from both Iraq and Afghanistan; and lower gas prices all at the same time.

Problem solved. Why is this stuff so difficult for the politicians to figure out?

The Media Killed Ron Paul

And here's the proof...

Who will YOU vote for in November? Will you do the media's bidding and vote for the person they programmed you to vote for? Or will you take a minute to do your own homework, educate yourself, and make the an informed decision about the one man (or women) that will have significant influence over nearly every aspect of your life for the next 4-8 years?

I'll be voting for Ron Paul, even if I have to write his name in, because choosing the lesser of two evils is completely unacceptable to me. And it's starting to look like that's exactly the choice we will be given.

Real change starts with you doing your own homework and making the right choice on election day.

Deterioration of the US Military

Almost seven years ago I sat, as did millions of other Americans, and watched as our government underwent a peaceful transition of power.

At first, I felt a swell of pride and patriotism as I watched George W. Bush take his oath of office. However, all that pride quickly vanished as I later watched the Clintons board Air Force One for the last time.

I saw 21 Marines, in full dress uniform with rifles, fire a 21-gun salute to the outgoing president and first lady. It was then that I realized how far America's military had deteriorated under the Clinton administration.

Every last one of them missed.

Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Redneck?

The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you. You are carrying a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.

What do you do?

Democrat's Answer :

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint and weed day and; make this happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus.

Republican's Answer:

BANG!

Redneck's Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG ! Click..... (Sounds of reloading) BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click

Daughter: 'Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Hollow Points?! '

Son: 'Can I shoot the next one?!'

Wife: 'You ain't taking that to the Taxidermist!

My Answer:

I prefer (and carry) the Glock 27. BANG! BANG! (slight pause while I change my aim) BANG! That's two in the chest and one in the head (it's a military thing).

Loose Change

I'm not really the conspiracy therorist type, so films about conspiracy theories tend to turn me off. When I first sat down to watch Loose Change I thought is was going to be exactly that; and I doubted that I'd watch more than a few minutes of it. But I was wrong. It's more than just a theory, and it sucked me in. I eventually took the laptop downstairs and plugged it into the big screen to finish watching the entire movie in the comfort of my living room with my wife. I couldn't believe my eyes.

The entire clip is 1 hour 22 minutes long. I hope you find the time to watch it all, it's an eye opening experience. I'm still shocked by it all.

If you prefer, you can buy the DVD here.

Lastly, remember what you saw here when you vote this fall. Take the time to recognize which of the candidates are "Old Guard"; which one's contributed to 9/11 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; and which one's promise REAL CHANGE - not just empty promises about change to get your vote.

In my opinion, only one candidate offers any REAL CHANGE: Ron Paul.

An Interesting Parable

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it is, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table ... everywhere!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket.

And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like it used to be . quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let's see ... Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen.

Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.

Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to "press one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder...

Ron Paul Doesn't Quit!

A few news sources are misreporting Ron Paul’s e-mail from last week. The presidential campaign is not ending, not being suspended, and not even drawing down. It’s slimming down and ramping up — with over twenty states having already voted, we’ve shed staff, and we’re concentrating financial and organization resources on the remaining states. We’re going to the convention, and we’re fighting for every vote and every National Delegate along the way.

Republicans do not want John McCain to be their nominee. He has only been able to become the front-runner because the field was so divided and because he’s a media darling. We can see just how unpopular McCain is in the heartland by his performance in the Kansas caucuses today. Kansans resoundingly rejected the Arizona senator, and McCain’s big wins so far have mostly been in blue states — states he won’t win in November if, heaven forbid, he’s the Republican nominee.

Republicans want and need an alternative. Some people think Mike Huckabee provides an alternative to McCain. But Huckabee, who now tries to sound like Ron Paul when he talks about abolishing the IRS, raised taxes in Arkansas and vastly expanded spending in that state when he was its governor. Huckabee is no alternative at all. Ron Paul, on the other hand, has never voted for a tax increase, never voted for an unbalanced budget or for an unconstitutional war or government program.

At stake here is not just the Republican nomination — which McCain still has not locked up — but the future of the Republican Party and, much more importantly, the future of our liberties. We have to organize in every single state, including the ones that have already voted in the primaries and caucuses, to continue the fight to take back the Republican Party and to ensure that Ron Paul’s principles, the principles of Washington and Jefferson, prevail. For the sake of that cause, Ron Paul’s campaign continues, all the way to the convention.

Hotties for Ron Paul

Sure, Obama's got Amber Lee; but Ron Paul's got Lisa, Krista, Michelle, Audra, Courtney, Mona, Juliet, Gina, Katherine, Dot, Melanie and Constance! And that's not all. He has a seriously powerful message that the mainstream media is mostly ignoring. A message that you need to hear.

Hotties for Ron Paul Cover Image

Hotties for Ron Paul, the 2008 pin-up calendar, is an independent project produced by Los Angeles singer/writer/director Juliet Annerino. Although not connected in any way with the official Ron Paul Campaign, this sexy collection of female Ron Paul activists might be the most creative way yet to spread presidential candidate Ron Paul's message to the American people!

Juliet likes to say that “This is simply a pretty package for a powerful message!” I think it's much more than that.

The calendar, which is VERY “G-Rated”, is more than just a collection of “Hotties”. It also contains contains some very enlightening quotes from other great statesman, authors and visionaries such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Ernest Hemingway, Albert Camus and Martin Luther King Jr.

I honestly find myself reading the calender for it's great many insights. When you read the quotes of these great men and women, and compare them to the Ron Paul quotes on the same page, you can't help but realize the genius of Ron Paul; and that he's exactly what this country needs. Less Government, More Freedom, and a President that understands the value of the American Dollar. A President that is willing to govern in the manner so obviously intended by our founding fathers.

At the time of this posting, Juliet had about 100 (of the original 500) calenders left for sale, some of them autographed by one or more of the girls. With no plans for a reprint, this is definitely a limited edition, and a very collectible calender.

You can get your Hotties for Ron Paul collectible calendar at www.hotties4ronpaul.com, and you should.

For those of you in need of something a little more risqué, Juliet has leaked to me that they are working on a poster project that is exactly that.

THE LEFT WING'S PLAN FOR GUNS

"Why would an honest person even want a gun?"

by Alan Korwin, Author Gun Laws of America

It's time to remember what the Democrat party generally seeks regarding guns and gun rights. The list below was widely circulated while Clinton was in power. (This list and more is available at my website, http://www.gunlaws.com.

The democrat-backed Brady group and similar outfits have been quiet about guns because they want to win the election, and impose their goals on your rights --

THE FIVE YEAR PLAN:

1. National Licensing of all handgun purchases.

2. Licenses for Rifle and Shotgun owners.

3. State Licenses for ownership of firearms.

4. Arsenal Licenses (5 guns and 250 rounds of ammunition).

5. Arsenal License Fees (at least $300.00, with a cap of $1,000.00).

6. Limits on Arsenal Licensing (None in counties with populations of more than 200,000).

7. Requirement of Federally Approved Storage Safes for all guns.

8. Inspection License. (Gun safe licenses, yearly fee for spot inspections).

9. Ban on Manufacturing in counties with a population of more than 200,000.

10. Banning all military style firearms.

11. Banning Machine Gun Parts or parts which can be used in a Machine gun.

12. Banning the carrying a firearm anywhere but home or target range or in transit from one to the other.

13. Banning replacement parts (manufacturing, sale, possession, transfer, installation) except barrel, trigger group.

14. Elimination of the Curio Relic list.

15. Control of Ammunition belonging to Certain Surplus Firearms. (7.62x54R and .303).

16. Eventual Ban of Handgun Possession..

17. Banning of Any ammo that fits military guns (post 1945).

18. Banning of any quantity of smokeless powder or black powder which would constitute more than the equivalent of 100 rounds of ammunition.

19. Ban the possession of explosive powders of more than 1 kg. at any one time.

20. Banning of High Powered Ammo or Wounding ammo.

21. A National License for Ammunition.

22. Banning or strict licensing of all re-loading components.

23. National Registration of ammunition or ammo buyers.

24. Requirements of special storage safe for ammunition and licensing.

25. Restricting Gun Ranges to counties with populations less than 200,000.

26. Special Licensing of ranges.

27. Special Range Tax to visitors. ($85.00 per visit per person).

28. Waiting period for rentals on pistol ranges.

29. Banning Gun Shows.

30. Banning of military reenactments.

PLUS:

Ban of all clips holding over 6 bullets.

Elimination of the Dept. of Civilian Marksmanship.

Ban on all realistic replica and toy guns (including "air soft" and paintball).

The right of gun-violence victims to sue, with financial assistance from government programs, the gun manufacturers.

Taxes on ammo, dealers, guns, licenses to offset medical costs to society.

The eventual ban on all semi-automatics regardless of when made or caliber.

While it's true Republicans haven't done very much to defend your gun rights (OK, they have done a little) in six years of control, they offer no support for the anti-rights disarm-the-public plans the left wing will impose on you if they gain power in the next election. It's your choice. Do you stay home and evaporate your rights, or go out and defend them at the ballot box? Tell your friends.

If you took the bait and voted early, instead of rising up as a whole and voting on election day like you're supposed to, this message is too late and you got screwed.

I pledge allegiance...

From a speech made by Capt. John S. McCain, US, (Rep) who represents Arizona in the U.S. Senate:

As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room. This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home.

One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian. Mike came from a small town near Selma, Alabama. He didn't wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old.

At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School. Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967.

Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country, and our military, provide for people who want to work and want to succeed. As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing. Mike got himself a bamboo needle.

Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed it on the inside of his shirt. Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike's shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance. I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell, it was indeed the most important and meaningful event.

One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike's shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it. That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours.

Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up as well as we could. The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept. Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room. As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag.

He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to pledge our allegiance to our flag and country.

So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world.

You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

The Simple Truth

Learn these facts so you can properly debate the poor misguided ignorant blowhards.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January.....

In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.

That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following:

Franklin D. Roosevelt ...

Led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Harry Truman...

Finished that war and started one in Korea: North Korea never attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy...

Started the Vietnam conflict in 1962: Vietnam never attacked us.

Lyndon B. Johnson...

Turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Bill Clinton...

Went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent: Bosnia never attacked us.

He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.

Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the two years since terrorists attacked us President Bush has...

Liberated two countries,

Crushed the Taliban,

Crippled al-Qaida,

Put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot,

And, captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound.

That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!

The Military moral is high!

THREE THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

1. COWS
2. THE CONSTITUTION
3. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

COWS

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.

THE CONSTITUTION

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse........ You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians -- it creates a hostile work environment.

"GUEST" WORKERS EXPLAINED

Since hearing the plan for treating illegal immigrants as "guest" workers, I now have undergone a complete reversal in my understanding of the proper meaning of words.

I stupidly used to believe that the definition of "guest" is one who is invited. Now I'm told this is no longer correct.

For instance, if a burglar breaks into my home, he really becomes a guest who is only looking for a better life. Because he broke in for that reason, I must accept the obligation to provide health care, education, transportation, and living quarters.

I feel so much better now.

When God made Washington

God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.

He inquired of God, "Where have you been?"

God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction, and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Michael. Look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."

"Balance?" inquired Michael, "I'm still confused."

God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor.

Over there I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things," God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?"

"Ah," said God "That's Washington State, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, plains, and coulees. The people from Washington State are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats, and carriers of peace."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked, "But what about balance, God? You said there would be balance."

God smiled, "There is another Washington...Wait till you see the idiots I put there."

Racism, or the lack thereof…

The law seems pretty simple, really. And I think I have a good grasp of it: I strike a cop; I go to jail - with perhaps a few new bruises, or a good solid bite from a K-9 Officer. I’d almost certainly get my Concealed Weapons Permit revoked. And I’d deserve every bit of it for being an enormous idiot.

You hit a cop, same thing - unless, of course, you happen to be Rep. Cynthia McKinney. She seems to feel that she is so far above the law that everyone should know who she is; and that she can summarily dismiss the inquiries of a uniformed officer of the law without any acknowledgement whatsoever.

In the unlikely event that you’ve somehow missed the news that I speak of, Rep. Cynthia McKinney was allegedly accosted by an officer of the law in Washington D.C. and asked to identify herself. She ignored him. And the cop, doing what all good cops do, stopped her. That’s when she, allegedly, struck the officer. That’s where you and I go to jail for being stupid, end of story. Rep. McKinney, on the other hand, actually is above the law, and she probably won’t be doing any time for her stupidity. Err, I mean, offense.

But that’s not enough. Rep. McKinney seems to feel that her stop was racially motivated, and she’s now flinging accusations of racism all over Capital Hill. Fortunately, for those of us that are smart enough to stop for a cop when requested to do so, no one is listening. Democrats on The Hill are refusing to support Rep. McKinney’s claims; and Republicans are using this as an opportunity to applaud the Capital Police for the extraordinary job that they do. Bravo!

My favorite quote from The Hill on this matter comes from Rep. Tom Delay, who said on Fox News Channel’s Fox and Friends: "Cynthia McKinney is a racist. She has a long history of racism. Everything is racism with her. This is incredible arrogance that sometimes hits these members of Congress, but especially Cynthia McKinney." Thank You, Mr. Delay.

Members of Congress should not be exempt from ANY LAW – ANYWHERE. They should abide by all the same laws that you and I do – EVERYWHERE, and ALL THE TIME. Rep. McKinney deserves to receive the same punishment for her crimes that you and I would. But she won’t; and that’s just one of the things that’s wrong with our justice system. And they certainly should be of enough moral character not to fabricate claims of racism when it very clearly is not the case. But I obviously expect too much of my elected officials.

Then again, I don’t live in Georgia. The expectations of elected officials are obviously quite different there.

Hot Bunks for Prisons

Senator Robert L. Geddes, Jr.
State Capitol Building
P.O. Box 83720,Dist 31
Boise, ID 83720-0054

Dear Mr. Geddes,

I’m writing you today to express support of your idea to have inmates work in shifts and share their bunks with other inmates. I think it’s an excellent idea!

As you may already be aware, everyday, all over the world, volunteers serving in the U.S. Navy are “Hot Bunking”. Hot Bunking is when there are more sailors on a ship than there are beds. In this case, sailors have an assigned period of time for when they are allowed in the bed, and under worse case conditions, three sailors are sharing the same rack each day for 8 hours each. This practice is called Hot Bunking because the bed is still warm from the previous guy when you go to lay down in it. This arrangement is far more common on submarines, where space is at a premium and often reserved for weapons, or engineering.

Hot Bunking aboard a submarine is even less desirable because sheets and laundry are only washed once a week. So all three guys are sharing the same sheets for an entire week! Worse yet, showers are limited, so the sheets can get very, shall we say, undesirable by weeks end. Again, prisoners would have it easy compared to our volunteer submariners.

If Hot Bunking is good enough for volunteers serving our country in the U.S. Navy, under conditions far worse than those experienced in our local prisons; than Hot Bunking is good enough for those that have chosen to commit crimes against our community.

Hot Bunking is an excellent way to cut down on the comforts of prison life; make more room in prisons; all without raising taxes, or building more prisons. It’s a shame the media hasn’t taken more time and effort to explore and report on this facet of military service.

Another Hurricane to Strike Florida...

The National Weather Service has issued a warning for yet another Catastrophic hurricane following on the heels of Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne. The path of this hurricane zigs and zags and is therefore Highly unpredictable. Experts predict that this one will cause more damage to the United States than we have experienced in four years.

They are naming this one "Hurricane Kerry".

Be advised, the only way for citizens to protect themselves is by getting behind a "Bush".

Shotgun Incident Worsens for Kerry

New legal research by gun-law expert Alan Korwin indicates that merely accepting a gift shotgun from a private party out of his home state would be a five-year federal felony for Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, the Democratic candidate for President [see United States Code, section 922(a)(9)]. Giving him the gun would also be a felony [922(a)(5)].

National news reports picture Kerry proudly holding the gift in Racine, West Virginia, during a Labor Day celebration. Bringing the gun back to his home state would be an additional five-year federal felony, under the massive and bewildering federal gun laws, as previously reported by Bloomfield Press.

The shotgun, identified in published reports as a semiautomatic Browning, was actually a semiautomatic Remington model 11-87. News reports suggesting it was a gift from Remington would be an illegal donation from a corporation to a candidate, and the value of the shotgun would exceed campaign donation limits as well.

In a statement published in Gun Week, Remington CEO Tommy Millner denied any involvement with the gift, saying, "Rest assured, we were neither aware of this presentation in advance nor in any way supportive of its intent to support Senator Kerry. In fact, the Company remains amused by ongoing photos of Senator Kerry shooting without either ear or eye protection while discharging a firearm."

Reportedly outraged at the implication of an illegal gift, Remington rushed the release a public statement denying any association with the gift, saying, "Remington Arms Company has made no endorsement of any presidential candidate. This endorsement and presentation by the UMWA was made independently of the Remington Arms Company and the Company did not coordinate with or endorse the actions of the union."

A local of United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) represents workers at the Remington plant in New York where the highly regarded shotguns are made. UMWA President Cecil E. Roberts presented the gift according to Gun Week.

The greatest news error however appears to be that Mr. Kerry may have not accepted this gift, despite so many reports to the contrary, which cast the Senator as a pro-gun politician.

Reporter Matt Drudge had previously noted that Kerry introduced a bill which would have outlawed this particular sporting shotgun, because it is semi-automatic and has "any characteristic that can function as a grip."

Dave Workman, senior editor at Gun Week, contacted Washington, D.C.-based Kerry campaign spokeswoman Kathy Roeder, who said the shotgun was, "returned to the person who bought it," and that the gun is still in West Virginia. This reportedly took place immediately after all the photographs were taken of the Senator holding the gun. The actual current location of the shotgun is not known.

According to Workman's report in Gun Week, "Roeder acknowledged that Kerry could not legally have accepted the shotgun and taken it with him, anyway, under existing gun-control laws." It is not clear whether Roeder and the Kerry campaign were aware of this when the stories of the gift and photos were taken and widely circulated.

Questions as to Kerry's intent, in leading the media to believe he was in fact a gun supporter, by smiling and gladly receiving the shotgun gift, are unresolved as this Bloomfield Press news release was posted.

This places many news outlets in a difficult position. If they all retract their stories that Kerry accepted this gift, it will harm the image they conveyed of Kerry as a gun-friendly candidate, seen as necessary to win states like West Virginia. Al Gore lost largely democratic West Virginia (and Tennessee and Arkansas) in 2000 due to the gun issue, according to many observers.

News outlets are known to sometimes be reluctant to retract stories. If the media refuses to retract the stories, or if the Kerry campaign fails to issue a correction, then all the published articles and photos stand as evidence that the candidate committed the felony offense. Additional information is posted at the Bloomfield Press website, gunlaws.com, under the blue News Accuracy button.

In an effort to help smooth the waters, nearly 3,000 news outlets nationwide are being notified of this situation by Bloomfield Press. The public is encouraged to send this report to their local newspapers and broadcasters. It is hoped that the media will contact Kerry directly, and either retract the story, or confirm their account. Did John Kerry, in fact, receive a gift of a fine Remington shotgun?

If Kerry did accept the gift as widely reported, and as a legal matter, his transfer of it back to an unidentified person in West Virginia, without involvement of a licensed dealer, an FBI background check, and with no paper trail, may also be a felony.

Gun-law expert Korwin is again calling for calm, as these unbelievably confusing laws are sorted out, so the democratic candidate for president can continue his effort to attain the highest office in the land.

"Again, I implore the public to have patience. If the democratic candidate for president cannot figure out the gun laws, how on earth could mere gun owners be expected to do the same. Kerry deserves the same leniency we would all expect to receive. This is America, where we're all treated equally under the long arms of the law."
